Tips for scanning
One room at a time
Finish scanning one room before you start the next. Start with a specific area and work systematically through the whole room.
Close doors and windows
This helps define the room's shape and boundaries. For windows — focus on scanning the frame, not the glass itself. That reduces the chance of the scanner picking up areas outside the room.
Good lighting
Make sure the room is well lit. Open blinds and curtains, and turn on all lights. This is especially important on dark or single-coloured surfaces, where poor lighting can affect accuracy.
Clear the corners
Remove clutter from corners for better results.
Other tips
Plan your route in larger rooms. Start with one area and work systematically through the room, so you don't have to go back over large areas.
Move the device slowly and steadily. Avoid fast or abrupt movements. This gives the camera time to analyse the surroundings and produces sharper results.
Start with large, flat surfaces. Begin with a floor or wall — it gives the app a solid foundation and stabilises tracking early. It can take a few seconds in complex rooms. Hold the device steady until the app starts showing markers.
Watch for visual markers. During scanning the app shows graphic markers on edges, walls, floors and other structures. Use these to keep track of covering the whole room.
Stand far enough away. Position yourself so you can see the bottom and top of the wall through the app. This gives the scanner a better overview and more precise data.
Reflective and transparent materials. The scanner can struggle with glass and other reflective surfaces. Focus on scanning the frame around the window rather than the glass itself.
