Setting up an MCP connection in Claude (Anthropic)

This guide shows you step by step how to connect Claude to Wenn Property's MCP server, so you can use our tools directly in Claude conversations.

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI assistants like Claude connect to external tools and data sources. When you connect Claude to our MCP server, you get access to Wenn Property's tools directly in the chat.

Requirements

• A Claude account. MCP connections are available on all plans (Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise). The free plan is limited to one connection.
• Claude on the web (claude.ai) or the Claude Desktop app. Both support remote MCP servers.
• Admin access (only for Team/Enterprise) — an organisation owner must add the connection before members can connect.

Step 1: Add Wenn Property as a connector

The process depends on whether you use Claude individually or as part of an organisation.

For individual users (Free/Pro/Max)

1. Go to claude.ai and log in.
2. Click your profile picture and choose Settings.
3. Go to Connectors in the side menu.
4. Scroll down and click «Add custom connector».
5. Enter the MCP server URL: https://connect.wennproperty.com/mcp
6. Click «Add».

For Team/Enterprise (admin task)

An organisation owner must do this first:

1. Go to claude.ai and log in as owner/admin.
2. Open Organization settings.
3. Go to Connectors.
4. Click «Add custom connector».
5. Enter the MCP server URL: https://connect.wennproperty.com/mcp
6. Click «Add».

After this, individual members can connect:

1. Go to Settings → Connectors.
2. Find the Wenn Property connector (marked «Custom»).
3. Click «Connect» to authenticate.

Step 2: Complete the login

After you add the connector, Claude will open a login window:

1. You're taken to Wenn Property's login page.
2. Log in with your Wenn Property user account.
3. Approve the connection when asked.
4. You're taken back to Claude, and the connection is ready.

Step 3: Use the tools in a conversation

Now that the connection is created, you can enable it in conversations:

1. Start a new chat in Claude.
2. Click the plus button (+) at the bottom left of the chat field.
3. Choose «Connectors».
4. Turn on the Wenn Property connector.
5. Write your message as usual. Claude will automatically use the Wenn Property tools when relevant.

Troubleshooting

«I can't find Connectors in the settings»

• Check that you're on claude.ai — don't confuse it with other Anthropic pages.
• Update the browser — the feature is in beta and may require an update.
• Free plan: You only have room for one connection. Remove an existing connector if you already have one.

«The connection fails»

• Double-check that the URL is correct: https://connect.wennproperty.com/mcp
• Make sure you've completed the login in the pop-up window.
• Try removing the connection and adding it again.

«The tools don't appear»

• Check that the connector is turned on via the plus button (+) → Connectors in the active conversation.
• Start a new conversation and enable the connector there.

Claude vs. ChatGPT — differences in setup

The setup in Claude is simpler than in ChatGPT. Here are the main differences:

Security

• Claude shows you which tools it uses in the conversation. Always read through what Claude does with your data.
• The connection gives Claude access to data in Wenn Property based on your permissions. Claude can't do more than you have access to yourself.
