Understanding Norwegian Standard measurements
Wenn Property calculates areas and lengths according to the Norwegian Standard. Here we explain what the different measurements mean and where to find them.
Where do you find the measurements?
The measurements are shown in the «Informasjon» (Information) panel on the right when you select a room or a wall in the left sidebar.
Wall measurements
When you select a room, combined wall measurements are shown:
- Gross wall area — the total area of all walls, including doors, windows and openings
- Net wall area — wall area minus doors, windows and openings — the actual area to be treated
If you select a single wall, the same values are shown for that wall only.
Wall (Norwegian Standard)
Under the heading «Vegg (Norsk Standard)» (Wall — Norwegian Standard) you'll find:
- Net area — net wall area calculated according to the Norwegian Standard
- Net area for suspended ceiling — net wall area calculated with reduced ceiling height for a suspended ceiling
These may deviate somewhat from the regular wall measurements because the Norwegian Standard has its own rules for how openings and ceilings are calculated.
Floor measurements
Area — the floor area of the room, given in square metres.
Trims
- Floor skirting — total length of floor skirting, in centimetres
- Ceiling molding — total length of ceiling molding, in centimetres
- Casing — total length of casing around doors and windows, in centimetres
The trim measurements are useful for calculating material requirements and giving precise quotes.
